global warming.
if this continues, in 10 years time, global warming will become unstoppable.
this sounds quite stupid and impossible, how such a thing can happen in our lifetime (i'll be 23 in 10 years time), but actually it's kinda obvious that global warming is taking place now.
the average temperature of singapore has increased alot over the past 10 years.
most of what we do contribute to excessive amounts of carbon dioxide in the air.
humans are burning forests, clearing trees for land space, using electricity excessively and unnecesarily, burning coal and oil for electricity etc.
fires produce carbon dioxide.
clearing of forests mean less trees to convert carbon dioxide into oxygen (through photosynthesis).
carbon dioxide traps heat.
too much crabon=too much heat=global warming.
it's just all too obvious.
and scientists and enviromentalists are trying their best to fight global warming, but what are we doing?
not anything to help reduce the effects of global warming.
the antartic is breaking up and melting, most of you guys must have learnt about this in school
and singapore will become an underwater city, because it's a small island surrounded in water.
i know it's too late to stop global warming,
but we can slow it down.
recycle paper, turn off the lights when not in use, don't use the air-conditioning if you don't need it,
in short, reuse, reduce and recycle.
YOU MUST HAVE LEARNT THIS IN SCHOOL so i don't have to explain what that means.
oh, and protect the trees. :)
you can choose whether to believe this or not, but i'm just trying my best here to spread the message about global warming, and i hope whoever reads this will give it a serious thought.
for the sake of yourself, your family and friends, and the inocent animals who haven't done anything to deserve this.. let's all try our best to play our part in saving the earth.
after all, it is our home, and we don't have another one.
